Air Tanzania is a flag carrier airline of Tanzania operated under Air Tanzania Company Limited, established in the year 1977, headquartered in SATC House, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The company flies to 12 destinations within Tanzanian cities and 1 international destination, has its hub in Julius Nyerere International Airport.

Baggage holds special importance whether the trip is for business purpose or leisure. Thus it is imperative to know about the baggage policy before taking flight with Air Inuit in order to avoid unnecessary hassle while checking-in. Charges

Tshs 8000 for every additional kilo per every passenger for domestic flight and $5.00 on international flights.. 

Special baggage

Special Charges are levied for special baggage like sports equipments and bicycles. Also, registration and approval is required.

Travelling pet

Must be Accompanied by a certificate of good health, and that your pet is transported in an approved pet carrier or cargo crate. All the pet dogs and cats are allowed to get transported through Air Tanzania provided they meet all the requirements of the airlines. Pets can only be entered into the country via Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha or Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. They can be entered in as cabin, checked baggage or air cargo.

Damage

In case of any damaged, missing or delayed baggage, passenger is required to immediately get in touch with proper authorities of Air Tanzania once the flight lands. It is required for the passenger to fill out lost or damaged baggage claim to ensure proper process is followed to locate the baggage. A period of 5 days is taken by the airline to locate the baggage, on failure of which the passenger can fill out a claim form within 30 days of their arrival.
