Holiday season usually means traveling to wondrous locations with your family and friends. However, it is not necessary that we need to know the language of every country which we travel to. Any reliable app that can translate correctly is a must but nobody likes paying extra charges for translation. This is where ‘Google Translate’ has huge benefits for travelers.

Google Translate keeps adding all the major languages to make it more user-friendly for everyone. Recently, it added a pop-up translation feature too. The best part about Google Translate is that you don’t need to type in every time because it can translate not only by reading what a person writes but also by hearing someone speak.

According to the new feature, one can use this app even when offline or without any data or Wi-Fi connection. It is available for both Android and iOS. Therefore, while traveling there is no need to spend loads of money on renewing your data pack every time. Around 52 languages can be translated which include Russian, German, French, Filipino, etc.

In fact, for some languages like Chinese (Simplified and Traditional Chinese Both) there are advanced features. There is a Word Lens feature where you can hold your smart phone’s camera over a sign, symbol, word, menu or picture in 29 languages (including Arabic, Italian, Thai and Spanish), it will right away translate it for you.

There is a ‘Tap to Translate’ feature. This enables a user from a different app to translate using Google Translate. For example, you might be chatting with a fellow traveler on a chat app, then you do not need to copy their text and go to Google Translate for pasting it.

With the tap of a finger, a pop up will appear with the translation right within that app. Thus, no need to keep switching and waste time! This is for Android users. Moreover, you can actually have conversations real-time quite smoothly. The app can alternate between two languages as it detects the languages when we put the app in listening mode.

The phone can be placed between two people and they can speak as usual. After each sentence, a written translation will appear and the words are spoken in the foreign language too. The context clues are such that you can make new friends around the world and converse with them irrespective of the language.

Hold the phone up to the mouth (after politely asking) and start your conversation happily! A relatively quieter environment will enhance the translation effectiveness. Another great feature of Google Translate while traveling is that you can translate road signs on-the-go with the phone camera.

Before the scanning mode feature was introduced, a person had to take a snapshot then wait for all the text within that picture to be translated. Now it has become so convenient that you can can see the words translating right before your eyes. You can use it for understanding restaurant menus too.

Hence, Google Translate is like a friend during your journey abroad. Whether simple translations for conversation or understanding directions or ordering for food, Google Translate is bringing a revolution by breaking all language barriers. It can make communication across the world with diverse group of people a complete reality during your travel adventures.
