Traveling is a lot of fun but this fun is worth your time if your choice of destination is correct. There are many cities around the world that can offer you the much needed excitement and break from your mundane life.

Albuquerque is a wondrous city that is located in New Mexico. The city has beautiful attractions like the 10,000 ft Sandia Mountains on the East side and the Rio Grande right at the centre. Albuquerque also hosts an international balloon festival where travelers from around the world participate.

The city is distinctly marked by the Spanish culture and influences it heavily. Summers are hot while the late-summer rain gives a pleasant feeling. Winters are rather cold but without snowfall. It is a cosmopolitan city that was found in 1706. After the railroad was established in 1880, it became one of the most important commercial centres and largest city in the state. Some of the attractions of the city that will keep you busy are:

Tingley Beach

Tingley Beach was initially known as Conservancy Beach. It is a series of ponds. It was made in 1930s by bringing water from Rio Grande and at first used just for swimming. However, now it is only used for fishing.

Put your caps on and start fishing at this interesting place where you can spend several hours. This place has paddle boats, restaurant, nature trails, model boating pond and fishing area for both children & adults.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Albuquerque’s environment is mostly marked by high deserts and therefore, one of the best areas for hot air balloon rides. This International Balloon Festival is held in the month of October when numerous travelers and thousands of balloons give a festive look to the whole city. After the sunset, the balloons are inflated again and used as shining evening ‘balloon glows’. Many other events also take place during this time.

Albuquerque Museum of Art and History

Albuquerque’s spectacular history includes many cultural items from the last 400 years. If you are interested in history and in understanding European settlement in the southwest, then Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is the place for you. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.

Old Town

Old town has a mixed culture influence like Spanish, Mexican,Native Americans which makes it more fascinating. It is the place where originally Spanish people settled. It has a reposeful and charming South-western environment. The place has everything that a traveler would love to explore like souvenir shops, art galleries, museums and restaurants. Stroll around and breath in the air!

Albuquerque Biological Park

This relatively new Bio Park has Albuquerque Aquarium, Rio Grande Botanical Gardens and the Rio Grande Zoo. This Zoo has many endangered species and is a wonderful playground. The aquarium has sharks too while the Botanical Garden has butterflies and many kinds of insects. It is a perfect place for family outing.

Indian Pueblo Cultural Center

Culture of Pueblo people is very vibrant. The area where this center exists is now called New Mexico. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is located 2 miles to the north of Old Town. It is an interesting place with living cultures & histories, museums, cultural events like traditional dances, lectures, workshops, tours, etc. It is open daily from 9am to 5pm

KiMo Theatre

KiMo Theatre is Albuquerque’s well-known architectural landmark that was built in 1927. It has a Pueblo-Revival-Art Deco Style and adobe architectural styles with linear motifs. Paintings and images of Native American cultures are also there.

Sandia Peak Tramway

Get a stunning view of 10,378 ft high rugged summit of the range and the sprawling Albuquerque below. The tramway offers a ride from eastern edge of the city to the summit. The view is jaw-dropping.
